The Salvation Army Central Territorial Music and Creative Arts Ministries Department equips the United States Central Territory with various resources, develops ministry artists, and inspires all individuals to point their talent up as an offering in ministry.
Carlos is an outstanding young leader who has taken genuine ownership of the music ministry at the Norfolk Corps. He regularly selects music, organizes and leads brass band rehearsals, and helps prepare the group to support Sunday morning worship. What is especially impressive is that Carlos does not simply work with the musicians who are already available—he actively looks for ways to strengthen the ministry. He recruits and communicates with potential participants from his school, the community, and through mutual friends, helping fill needed parts and creating opportunities for others to become involved. Carlos is an exceptionally talented trombone player, but his character stands out even more than his musicianship. He is dependable, humble, encouraging, and willing to serve wherever needed. As a full-time student with plenty of demands on his schedule, he still makes music ministry at his corps a priority. He is using his gifts intentionally, taking initiative, investing in others, and helping make ministry happen at the local corps level.
