CTSS AUDITIONS
AUDITIONS ALWAYS OPEN!
Thank you for your interest in becoming a part of The Central Territorial Staff Songsters (CTSS). Here is the process for becoming a member of the group.
Part One: Application Form
Once you’ve submitted the application (please email to matt.woods@usc.salvationarmy.org), we will schedule the audition and interview portion.
Part Two: Vocal Audition
The audition process can be a bit daunting, but it is an essential tool for us to keep the high standard of the ensemble and to determine how we can best use your voice within the group.
Once you have completed your application you will be contacted to schedule an audition. This can be done in-person if schedules allow, or we can arrange for you to do a recorded audition with a local facilitator.
The vocal audition will consist of the following:
1. Song of your choice (no more than 3 minutes in length; make cuts if needed).
This should showcase your voice at its best, in the range of the voice part for which you are auditioning.
2. Sing an excerpt of “Go In Peace, Go In Love” by Lee Fisher.
Begin at measure 21 and sing to the end, singing in your voice part (Sop, Alto, Tenor, Bass).
3.Sight-singing.
8 measures of music that will be given to you at your in-person audition or the time of your recorded audition.
Part Three: Interview
You will be scheduled an interview with the Songster Leader and Songster Chaplain. This is as much for your benefit as the groups’.
Be prepared to share about your experience being a Christ follower and how that impacts your life.
During the interview, please feel free to ask questions about being a member of the CTSS. This also allows us an opportunity to communicate clearly what it means to be a part of this ministry.
As the flagship vocal group of the Central Territory it is expected that the CTSS members set a high standard of Christian living and musical ministry when they are on-duty with the CTSS and at their own Salvation Army Corps on a weekly basis.
Members of the Central Territorial Staff Songster will:
-
Have accepted Jesus Christ as their personal Savior
-
Have a desire to win souls of Jesus Christ and His Kingdom
-
Be a Salvationist in good standing
-
Be active in their Corps Songsters*
-
Be willing to share their personal testimony
-
Be prepared to commit to all scheduled engagements
-
Be able to travel
-
Be willing to commit to personal practice and preparation
-
Be at least 18 years old
-
To be accepted to the CTSS endorsements from THQ, DHQ, Corps Leadership are required. Following that, endorsements will be asked from Corps Leadership annually.
